First Baptist Academy has a premier Dallas football program with experienced and proven coaches, as well as a record that speaks for itself. The FBA football team won the 2023 TAPPS Division IV State Championship, has won multiple district, regional, and state championships, and has seen over a third of their players go on to college programs in the last decade.

Quarterbacks at FBA

Since 2009: FBA QB’s have thrown for 41,838 yards and 500 touchdowns
FBA QB’s have been recognized as all-state 6 times
Since 2011, 9 of 10 starting quarterbacks have graduated and gone on to play college football.
Add: Hunter McCoy: In 2023, all-state QB Hunter McCoy had 4,155 passing yards and 68 passing touchdowns, which is tied for 3rd all-time in Texas High School Football History. He also rushed for 859 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in leading the Saints to an undefeated state championship. Hunter received statewide private school player of the year honors from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Texas Private School Media, and he went on to play at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor

Alijah “AC” Cason: In 2023, all-state WR Alijah Cason had 81 receptions for 1,708 receiving yards and 35 receiving touchdowns, which is 3rd all-time in Texas High School Football History. He led the Saints to an undefeated state championship and went on to receive a full scholarship at Holy Cross.

Trae Hart: In 2012, all-state WR Trae Hart led the nation in receiving with over 2,000 YDs. In 2013, his senior year, he led the Saints to the state championship
Trae went on to receive a full scholarship at Purdue

College Bound

Since 2009:

Out of 101 senior FBA football players since 2009, 35 (34%) have gone on to play college football.
Out of 68 senior FBA football players since 2013, 30 (44%) have gone on to play college football.

This represents millions of dollars in college scholarship offers and awards.

Success at the College Level

Kelan Smith, all-state receiver:
Won the National Championship at Texas A&M Commerce in 2017

Miles Thompson, all-state quarterback:
Was named the SAA Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the 2017 Season
Was named a 2018 Preseason All-American at Hendrix College

Gage McClanahan, all-state quarterback:
Broke the Howard Payne University completion record against Southwestern University in 2018

Lane Taylor, all-state defensive back & receiver:
Was featured on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 when he blocked a field goal that was returned for a TD to win the game for Lamar University in 2018

Josh Johnson, all-state defensive back:
Was named GPAC All-Conference in 2014 at Hastings College
