International Program
International Students
Here’s what you can experience at FBA
At First Baptist Academy in Dallas, Texas, our mission is to provide a Christ-centered and biblically integrated college preparatory education to develop the next generation of Christian servant leaders for the glory of God. Our international program seeks to uphold that mission by providing an outstanding homestay service, an individualized ESL support program, and personal care for each student.
Student Life
Our international students participate in a broad range of activities such as Band, Athletics, Yearbook, and service projects. Students experience American and Texan culture through field trips, retreats, and personal relationships. FBA provides additional opportunities to travel nationally and internationally in conjunction with the FBA OnMission program (Quarterly Service Days).
ESL
The English as a Second Language (ESL) support at First Baptist Academy helps to develop students’ language abilities, to cultivate a love for learning in all the academic areas, and to prepare them for a successful university experience.
Students have come from all over the world to attend First Baptist Academy,
as represented by the map below.
Host Family Experience
Each international student is required to live with a family in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. International students who are not living with their biological families are placed with Christian host families who are screened and approved by FBA. Each adult in the household has had a criminal background check for students’ safety. Students are expected to engage in family lifestyle, attend church regularly, and pay monthly host family compensation (which includes food, lodging, and transportation to and from school).
Please complete the Host Family Application.
Winter Schooling
First Baptist Academy offers opportunities for international students to earn a certificate in a non-graded academic experience. The experience shadows peers in an English Immersion Program for non-English speaking students and is designed to provide them with multiple weeks of international schooling during their own school break. Students will be matched with age and academic peers, assigned buddies, be able to take part in our English Second Language (ESL) support program, and participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. If needed, FBA will provide a host family. For more information and to apply contact the FBA Director of International Student Education (ISE) Dr. Karen Estep.
